This review is mostly for Rex. 2.5 hours delay because one crew member got sick!!! Seriously, where is their back up plan. They just go on with their Monopoly. And the customer service person confidently tell me I would've received a message as everyone else did!!!
While I have no issues with the Taxi drivers themselves, and I had many years of being the customer to a brilliant service, with polite staff, and an easy booking system, it is truly unfortunate that I have to rate the current system very poorly indeed due to a lapse in standard, and safety concerns. When the phone ordering system changed to a call centre, and the staff clearly had no idea about the local area, the service provided changed quickly. A few months ago I made a booking for my child (I specified the booking would be for a child when I made it), and requested the taxi pick my daughter up at a specified time, and place. I made the booking several hours prior to the end of school. My daughter waited for 15 minutes at the pick up point and there was no taxi. So she walked to a local shop and rang me, I rang and changed the pick-up place, and asked them to be quick. My daughter waited for a further 30 minutes and there was still no taxi. During this time I rang the taxi call centre to ask where the taxi was (more-so my child), and was told that according to the call centre's computer system the booking had been completed. I was beyond annoyed. I informed them that if the booking was completed my child would be at my house, and I wouldn't need to ring them. In the end my daughter had to walk the long distance home, on a dangerous road. After a few months I made a second booking, giving the service the benefit of the doubt. I booked another taxi for a particular time, again in advance. The taxi didn't arrive at the specified time. I even booked the taxi with plenty of 'wiggle room' so my daughter was picked up and dropped off in time so that she didn't miss her school bus. But when I rang to ask where the taxi was (now 10 minutes late), I was told that while there was a taxi in the closest town to me, they had just sent a taxi from the city (Burnie) for the booking. My daughter of course missed her school bus, and I rang back to cancel the booking. While the call centre staff are polite, clearly this system does NOT work for a small rural area. I feel sorry for the taxi drivers, because they must be finding this change-over even more difficult than the customers, after all they're the ones not picking up fairs.
